ACTS Institutes, Golden Triangle, Myanmar

There are 2 ACTS Institutes in Myanmar, located in Taunggyi and Kyaingtong in Shan State, in the middle of the Golden Triangle.

What is meant by the Golden Triangle?

Golden triangleThe part of Asia (Thailand, Laos and Myanmar) least touched by the gospel is called the Golden Triangle. The term is used euphemistically to describe the mountainous border areas of Myanmar, Thailand and Laos from where misery does originate for millions of people all over the world. For it is in these areas that 80% of the world's illegal drugs are cultivated and produced which condemns millions worldwide to a life of entrapment and slavery.

Why reach the Golden Triangle?

(a) Many unreached people groups live in the Golden Triangle: Shan, Lisu, Akha, Lahu, Wa, Paloung,  Paooh, and Hmong are the major people groups.

(b) There are 20,000 tribal villages without a single church.

(c) Many children are illiterate because there are no schools in most villages in the Golden Triangle, and are left unattended or abandoned by drug-addicted parents. Some will die prematurely while others will follow their adults into drug addiction.

(d) Millions of women and children in the rural areas of the Golden Triangle are deprived of their basic rights as human beings. Many women and children are sold into prostitution.

(e) Extreme poverty: Lack of food kills thousands of children in the Golden Triangle.

Children of the Golden Triangle

ACTS International partners with local ministries in caring for the children and orphans in the Golden Triangle.    Funds received designated for these children will be channeled and used for their care.
